BASICS

For most students, my recommended lesson length is 1 hour (60 minutes). However, I also offer sessions of 90, 120, and 150 minutes. The longer ones work well for group lessons and older students.  

 While my strongest recommendation is for one-on-one tutoring, I also teach the same lesson (e.g. SAT Prep) to groups of up to 3 students. Each additional student is an extra $15/$10 per hour.

I have purchased memberships to several online educational resources, such as Education.com, Readworks, Quizlet, IXL, ESL Kidstuff, Khan Academy, Live Worksheets, etc. I regularly use these in my teaching to create student accounts and assign homework from these sites. The students enjoy the variety and interactivity. They have been incredibly valuable and helpful.  

 I am very down to earth and patient. I adapt to the student. I like to share what I know about the world in the context of their lessons. I like to get them excited about what is in the world. I regularly search for new materials that do this, I never stop trying to improve as a tutor. I learn from my students just as they learn from me! 

 I value staying in touch.  If a student or parent ever wants to talk about how things are going, I am happy to talk on the phone or in person.  If there is anything about your child that I should know in order to help them better, please tell me. I want to know about any learning and/or emotional issues, and anything else relevant. This will help me to help them to the best of my ability. 

Hiring a tutor can be a big decision. You want to get the best for your child, but depending on your situation, and how many sessions your child needs, this is a cost that can add up fast.
